HOLME MOSS SPORTIVE

HOLME MOSS SPORTIVE SATURDAY JULY 6th

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN SATURDAYS EVENT. A COUPLE OF MENTIONS FIRSTLY TO GEOFF PELL ONE OF OUR REGULARS WHO LOST HIS KEYS ON THE WAY ROUND REALISED THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN ON THE DESCENT FROM HOLME MOSS. GEOFF HAD TO TURN ROUND AND GO AND LOOK FOR THEM LOSING A HUGE AMOUNT OF TIME. LUCKLIY SOME ONE HAD FOUND THEM AND HANDED THEM INTO THE LOCAL PUB

SECONDLY TO BOLTON TRI WHO NOT ONLY COMPLETED THE 85 MILE ROUTE IF THAT WASN`T ENOUGH THEN WENT FOR A RUN.

NEWS

WEATHER WARNING

Its looking like it will be a hot sunny day tomorrow dont forget the sun cream, and keep hydrated. Start off with full water bottles and make sure you refill them through out the day. We will have High 5 Sports Drink and fresh water at the feeding stations

Free entries for U16 they must be accompanied by a fee paying adult

CUT OFF POINT

THERE WILL BE A CUT OFF POINT JUST AFTER NEW MILLS WHERE THE ROUTE JOINS THE A6. RIDERS REACHING THIS POINT AFTER 3.00PM WILL BE DIRECTED RIGHT DOWN TO HAZEL GROVE WHERE YOU TURN LEFT BACK TO POYNTON.

THE SECOND FEEDING STATION WILL BE CLOSE AT 2.30PM

Hilly 85 mile and 45 Mile Sportive taking in the epic climb of Holme Moss which will feature in the 2014 Tour de France

Starting at the Poynton Leisure Centre the riders will set off on a 85 mile route through the Peak District taking in the climbs of Chunal, Holmes Moss, Gamesly before heading back towards Poynton through Whalley Bridge then over the Brick Works back to finish. We have also got a shorter but still challenging 45 mile route. Both rides have been designed by experienced local club cyclists.

It will be a great day out in the saddle with some stunning scenery, challenging climbs, fast descents and picturesque villages.

You do not need to be in a cycling club to enter the event. You just need to be fit enough to get round. We have two routes to suit all abilities. Have road worthy bicycle (road, hybrid or mountain bike) and a helmet.
The event is insured by Cyclosure one of the countries leading cycle event insurers. We have support vehicles around the course with friendly event crew who are there to help.
Riders are set off in small groups, your number is scanned at the start and at the finish, times are published on the website on the Monday following the event.

REGISTRATION

Registration opens at 7.00 am and closes at 7.45 am

Registration is in the Leisure Centre




In registration for riders who have entered online you have already signed on so it's just a matter of picking up your number, there is nothing to sign. We will publish the start sheet a few days before the event. It will speed registration up if you check your number before hand.

Start Time 8.00 am

Start Closes at 8.30 am



PARKING

There is ample  parking at the Leisure Centre, please follow the instructions of the Leisure Centre Staff.


FEEDING STATION

 

 
There will be feeding station on route supplying High 5 products , gels, bananas, flapjacks, sports drinks and fresh water.

Main climb on the route Holme Moss which will feature in next years Tour de France.

ELECTRONIC TIMING SYSTEM

We use an electronic system for timing our events. There is a bar code which is
printed on your numbers. Please make sure you are scanned at the start and at the finish in order to get a time.



STRAVA

We also put our events on Strava, if you download the app to your computer or phone and use it on the day it will give you a lot more information about the ride including gradients, King of the Mountains, Timed sections, etc.



TWITTER

We have a twitter feed which can be useful to tell you about any last minute details ie. diversions or weather conditions. You can find the feed on the right hand side of the page.

SIGNAGE

 We use a Black Arrow on a Florescent Yellow background to sign the route. We also mark the roads with a YELLOW arrow using temporary spray. The Route signs are put out just before the events and are checked on the morning of the event. We also have a vehicle that proceeds the riders making sure the signs are still in place. Everything to keep on the right track.
